Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Fork or potato masher

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados halved, pitted, and peeled
  • 1 lime juiced (about 2 tbsp)
  • 1 small tomato diced (optional)
  • ¼ cup finely chopped red onion
  • 1 small garlic clove minced (optional)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
  • ½ tsp salt adjust to taste
  • ¼ tsp ground cumin optional
  • Optional: 1 small jalapeño seeded and minced

Instructions

  • Prepare Avocados:Scoop the avocado flesh into a mixing bowl. Mash with a fork or potato masher until smooth or leave it slightly chunky, depending on your preference.
  • Add Lime Juice:Stir in the lime juice to add tanginess and prevent the avocados from browning.
  • Mix in Ingredients:Add the red onion, garlic (if using), cilantro, salt, cumin (if using), and jalapeño (if desired). Mix until well combined.
  • Taste and Adjust:Taste the guacamole and adjust the seasoning with more salt or lime juice as needed.
  • Serve:Transfer the guacamole to a serving bowl. Garnish with extra cilantro or a lime wedge, if desired. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, fresh veggies, or as a topping for tacos or burritos.

Notes

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container with plastic wrap pressed directly onto the surface to prevent browning. Refrigerate for up to 2 days.
  • Quick Tip: If you’re making it ahead, add an extra squeeze of lime juice to maintain freshness.
  • Customization: Feel free to skip or add ingredients based on your preferences—guacamole is versatile!
