Ingredients
  

For the Ground Turkey

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • ½ tsp salt adjust to taste
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • ½ cup water

For the Taco Bowl Base

  • 2 cups cooked rice white brown, or cauliflower rice for low-carb
  • 1 15 oz can black beans drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce or chopped romaine

Toppings (Customize to Your Taste!)

  • 1 avocado sliced or mashed
  • ½ cup cherry tomatoes halved
  • ¼ cup red onion finely diced
  • ½ cup shredded cheese cheddar Mexican blend, or cotija
  • ¼ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro chopped
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions
 

Cook the Turkey:

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.

Season the Meat:

  • Add the ground turkey, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.

Add Flavor & Simmer:

  • Stir in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Pour in tomato sauce and water, stirring to combine. Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.

Prepare the Base:

  • While the turkey simmers, assemble the base of each bowl with rice, black beans, and lettuce.

Assemble the Taco Bowls:

  • Spoon the seasoned turkey mixture over the base. Add toppings like avocado, tomatoes, red onion, cheese, and sour cream.

Finish & Serve:

  • Garnish with fresh cilantro and a squeeze of lime. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Make It Ahead: Store the turkey mixture separately from toppings and base ingredients for easy meal prep.
  • Storage: Keep leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet or microwave before serving.
