For the Ground Turkey
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion diced
- 2 garlic cloves minced
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp cumin
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp oregano
- ½ tsp salt adjust to taste
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 8 oz can tomato sauce
- ½ cup water
For the Taco Bowl Base
- 2 cups cooked rice white brown, or cauliflower rice for low-carb
- 1 15 oz can black beans drained and rinsed
- 1 cup shredded lettuce or chopped romaine
Toppings (Customize to Your Taste!)
- 1 avocado sliced or mashed
- ½ cup cherry tomatoes halved
- ¼ cup red onion finely diced
- ½ cup shredded cheese cheddar Mexican blend, or cotija
- ¼ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- ¼ cup fresh cilantro chopped
- Lime wedges for serving
Add Flavor & Simmer:
Stir in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Pour in tomato sauce and water, stirring to combine. Simmer for 5 minutes until thickened.
Assemble the Taco Bowls:
Spoon the seasoned turkey mixture over the base. Add toppings like avocado, tomatoes, red onion, cheese, and sour cream.
